poems born of merciless memory & incessant inquiry

Bio

Jocelyn’s life began with a clerical error. At a hospital in Baltimore in the 1900s, a medical staffer typed Jermeiah, Male on her birth certificate, launching a life of spiteful success. She grew up in a crack den near DC, attended PG Public Schools as the only white kid in the world, spent her teenaged years on park benches, and accidentally earned a full scholarship to UMBC. Wrinkling and unfinished, she raises a toddler and coaches rugby in very north Virginia, where she sings Amy Winehouse openly during walks in the local park with her pointer dog, River, who is spotted all over.
