poems born of merciless memory & incessant inquiry

Warped and reformed
Offered like generosity
At inflection

By Mommy
Who spooned me word treats
To pacify

By coaches
Who put me on D line
In charity

By teachers
While I wept at their desks
Like wasted potential

By therapists
As a stopgap to a site visit
To keep me alive

By friends
After too much booze hit my lips
And my slop let slip

By chosen family
Stitching snippets along the way
In incomprehension

But not by me
You won’t hear it

I won’t abuse it
Because strength is not
To stand unmoved in a storm

It’s to dance naked
Through the torrent
Head cocked to the sky

To whisper
More Rain
