poems born of merciless memory & incessant inquiry

oh, there you are

little lily-draped

lightning bug

brave boy

battle born

wriggling wild wrestler

with your heart undone

you’re beautiful

did you know?

you will.

so will they

just a few more spins

of the wheel

turn turn turn

tiny tinkerer

keep building

keep anchoring

keep thatching

keep believing

i’ll keep you here

aloft my bust

lolling you along wonderland

like no other ever would

nestle you near

lick off your stink

stamp out your fear

stroke your lush hair

touch touch touch

close your eyes

i’m still here

and I see you

you can stay

against my heart

just breathe

safe

where they can’t touch you

the wrong way

any longer

stay

sweet sunspot

burrow into my breast

full breaths

first breaths

big breezes

rest now

you’ve done so well

kiss kiss kiss

you won’t be missed

after all

you’ve only

ever endured
